Vietnam targets 9 billion USD seafood exports in 2018

VTV.vn - The General Department of Fisheries held a conference to evaluate the results of 2017 and perspectives for 2018 on Tuesday.

One of the important goals is to strive for export turnover of 9 billion USD, up more than 5% compared to last year. To achieve this goal, the fisheries sector will enhance the clean and high-tech farming of shrimp and catfish. The sector will provide information equipment for fishing vessels.

28 coastal provinces were required to strictly manage the construction of offshore fishing vessels and to suspend licensing of new vessels that use trawling nets.

Hotlines between Vietnam and other countries in the region will be set up quickly to deal with issues at sea.

Regarding the repair of damaged fishing vessels in Binh Dinh, the General Department of Fisheries committed to push repairing process and compensation plans for vessel owners and fishermen.
