Vietnam People's Navy: protecting Vietnam's sovereignty

VTV.vn - The Vietnamese People's Navy is the core service that protect Vietnam's maritime sovereignty.

The Navy's responsibility is to strictly manage and control the waters and islands in the East Sea that are under Vietnam's sovereignty. Since its establishment on May 7th 1955, the Navy has grown tremendously / and been widely recognized all over the world. On a recent visit to Truong Sa archipelago, our reporters captured memorable moments of Vietnamese navy soldiers performing their duties.

President Ho Chi Minh once said to Naval troops: "Yesterday we only had night and forests. Today we possess the day, sky and sea. Our coast is long and fine, so we must protect it."

These words have become the Naval Service's guiding motto throughout its process of building, fighting, and maturing through the years in order to successfully manage and safeguard the country's waters, islands and continental shelf.
