VTV.vn - Artificial Intelligence is going to be an inevitable trend in the future because it is expected to considerably enhance productivity and living standards as well as open up various opportunities for businesses.

According to experts, Vietnam should develop applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in its advantageous sectors. This will help increase AI's effectiveness.

"We should start applying AI in sectors that already utilise technology, such as smart agriculture, smart tourism, smart traffic, and smart cities", Nguyen Ai Viet - IT expert - said.

Because Vietnam is still in the beginning stages of AI development, the country needs fundamental factors including human resource training, and changing public awareness. Human resource development is said to be challenging for Vietnam.

"Vietnam needs to change its education system so that it can train data scientists. Enterprises also need to prepare infrastructure and send engineers abroad for training", Nguyen Phuong Hoang - Vice Director of Sendo Company - said.

"Developing AI requires staff with specialised knowledge of mathematics, computer science and research capabilities. Vietnam lacks this. We really expect renovation in education to solve this problem", Le Hong Viet - Chief Technology Officer of FPT Group - said.

Recently, the AI system of IBM was transferred to 4 universities and research institutes as well as 3 major enterprises in Vietnam. This transfer is expected to build up professional staff and specialists in computer science in Vietnam.
