VTV.vn - On the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ retreat in Singapore, Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh met with Singaporean Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.

The two ministers both agreed on the need to prioritise building a unified ASEAN into a structural area with activities carried out according to a common set of regulations. Member nations have the responsibility, the ministers believe, in pushing for the common benefits of the ASEAN community.

The officials further emphasised the need for ASEAN to facilitate further negotiations for a code of conduct for the East Sea. In terms of relations, the ministers agreed on co-operation in improving food safety and hygiene standards in Vietnamese produce, with more opportunities for export to the Singaporean market.
