VTV.vn - As the southern region of Vietnam continues to feel the effects of tropical depressions, another tropical storm, by name of Damrey, has developed near the Philippines and is expected to head into Vietnam’s southern central region.

The storm is forecasted to bring strong winds of up to level 10 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts going up to level 13, packed with heavy rains across the region. This morning (Thursday), the steering committee for natural disaster prevention and control requested all localities to heighten warnings for boats and fishermen at sea. Local authorities have also been asked to prepare evacuation plans, and plans for preventing floods, landslides and other possible scenarios. Heavy rains will hit provinces from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa from Thursday night up until November 7th. The electricity sector has also been requested to step up preparations, ensuring safety and back-up plans to serve the APEC week in Da Nang.
