VTV.vn - After 2 years of construction, the project to install a solar powered electricity supply system has come into operation at Hoài River Square in the ancient city of Hội An.

The event marks the 5th anniversary of start of the twin city program for Hội An and Germany's Wernigerode (Venigegodo). Of a total investment of about 155,000 US dollars, 90% has been supplied by the German government.

The solar panels are capable of producing 51 kilowatts/hour for lighting and decorations for entertainment activities like street arts, folk games, decorative lanterns, and the Cầu bridge.

It has also helped encourage the use of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources to help develop Hoi An into an eco-culture-tourism city.
