In Soc Trang Province, salt water has entered the fields near Ngã Năm town via the Quảng Lộ Phụng Hiệp canal. Thanks to a proactive approach in dealing with saltwater intrusion, the locality is not concerned about the loss of the winter-spring rice crop.
Sóc Trăng Province has over 160,000 hectares of winter-spring rice crop. Having learned from previous crops, this year, localities across the province have taken initiative to prevent drought and saltwater intrusion since the beginning of drought season. Due to this, half of the harvest is expected to be safe from intrusion.
