Review of APEC co-operation

Results of a series of conferences held during the past year will be reviewed and presented to leaders from 21 APEC member economies at the APEC Summit. The APEC Senior Officials Meeting that opened on Monday is the start of this important event series. A meeting of deputy foreign ministers opened the summit. The meetings will finalise contents to propose to ministers and leaders of APEC. Within the two day meeting, APEC senior officials must review reports from all committees on aspects of co-operation on trade, investment, growth and human resources. The number of committees and working groups has doubled compared with 2006 when Vietnam hosted APEC for the first time. But despite the greater workload, the host country has successfully co-ordinated these important meetings.
