According to the VPA, all wooden products exported to the EU must have legal origins. This is said to have a huge impact on wood furniture manufacturers and exporters because many Vietnamese businesses still find it difficult to understand the origin tracking process and what constitutes legal wood.
Vietnamese wood products have been exported to more than 120 countries and territories with the US and Europe being the largest markets.
Experts say that the signing and implementation of the VPA/FLEGT and wood origin tracking will help Vietnam improve its wood industry towards more sustainable development.
