VTV.vn - The Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar held a get-together in Yangon on February 5 to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival 2018, gathering more than 500 overseas Vietnamese residing in Myanmar.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Luan Thuy Duong sent her best New Year wishes to the Vietnamese community in Myanmar. She also informed them of the significant achievements of Vietnam in 2017, including the successes of the Vietnam APEC YEAR 2017 and the Vietnam U23s at the AFC U23 Championship, among others.

In addition, Vietnam and Myanmar took great strides forward in their bilateral relationship, as seen with the 51% year-on-year increase in bilateral trade in 2017, creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises and citizens to work and live in Myanmar, Duong said.

The Vietnamese Ambassador called on Vietnamese people in Myanmar to support each other and respect the local culture and laws while promoting the reputation of Vietnam in Myanmar to contribute to nurturing the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The get-together also brought traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes to participants along with the performance of Vietnamese songs and dancing to celebrate the ever nearing Tet.
