VTV.vn - On Saturday, a cargo ship named Chemroad Journey carrying nearly 2,000 tons of oil from Singapore to China was stranded near Phu Quy Island in Binh Thuan Province.

Currently, the ship is tilted over 15.5 degrees, risking a major oil spill into the sea. When the ship arrived at Da Ty islet, about 28 nautical miles south of Phu Quy Island, it ran aground. Right now, all 27 crew members on board are safe, and the captain has not called for rescue.

Immediately after receiving the information, Binh Thuan Provincial Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Steering Committee has directed the border guard station at Phu Quy port to stay in touch with Chemroad Journey, and be ready to mobilise and deploy rescue measures if required.

The Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment is also keeping up with events as they unfold and are prepared to respond should an oil spill occur.
