Mekong-Lancang co-operation for peace, sustainable development

VTV.vn - The second Mekong-Lancang Co-operation Summit opened on January 10 in Phnom Penh, bringing together leaders from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

The event is aimed to promote co-operation to build a responsible community and ensure common interests in the region. On water resources co-operation, the leaders agreed to strengthen co-operation in management and sustainable use of water resources through activities such as policy dialogue through the regular organisation of the Mekong Lancang Co-operation, along with the development and improvement of a water quality monitoring system; sharing information and hydrological data; technical co-operation, implementation of joint research and pilot projects related to Mekong River water resources.
