VTV.vn - Vietnam Television has again co-operated with Japanese TV to co-produce Under the Distant Sky, a romantic drama set to be aired soon in both countries.

Dưới bầu trời xa cách aka Under the Distant Sky tells the story of Hai, a Vietnamese student in Okinawa, Japan and Eri, a Japanese reporter. Even though they start off on a bad note as Eri keeps pressing Hai for an interview about the American War in Vietnam, love blossoms between them.

“The story has two sides. One is about love between the young Japanese and Vietnamese. Besides stories about love and sharing, we also explore the feelings of people whose countries have both gone through wars”, said Vu Truong Khoa, director of Under the Distant Sky.

The male lead role was given to Quang Sự. As the actors' lines are recorded directly at the shoot, he found the role quite a challenge.

“I only had 2-3 weeks to learn Japanese before filming started. The part where I had to speak Japanese wasn't easy, it's not just everyday stuff, it's about history, culture and love. That's the biggest pressure I faced in this project,” he said.

Under the Distant Sky will be aired on January 22nd on VTV1 and March 23rd on Okinawa's Ryukyu Asahi. Other Japanese stations are set to broadcast the film from April this year.
