VTV.vn - The action plan for turning Ho Chi Minh City into a smart city was announced on Nov 26th.

This plan is set to have 3 phases. Specifically, 4 major bases of the smart city including a data centre, a management centre, a strategic simulation system and a security system will be built from 2017 to 2020. From 2021 to 2025, smart solutions will be implemented in specialised areas.

After 2025, more plans with long-term measures will be established. In order to fund this action plan, HCMC will issue bonds, call for foreign assistance and allocate part of the city's and the state's budgets. In addition, the city will also encourage the involvement of private enterprises, apply the public-private partnership model and impose charges for several services in order to cut input costs and avoid outdated technologies.
