VTV.vn - The Hanoi Capital High Command together with the Vietnam People's Air Force have successfully salvaged an intact US air missile on the outskirts of Hanoi.

Previously, a resident living in Can Kiem Commune discovered a "strange object" in the Tich River. The object resembled a rocket. Upon hearing the news, the Thach That District Military Command coordinated with local authorities to pull the object up from the river.

It was identified as an American ground-to-air missile, with fuses still intact, and determined it to have fallen in 1972. The missile weighs about 600kg, is about 4.2m long was found about 7m underwater.
