VTV.vn - The quality checking process on all catfish shipments from Vietnam started on August 2nd, one month earlier than scheduled.

If the US's newly regulated criteria and standards are not satisfied, the Import and Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade warns that there is a risk of a complete ban on Vietnam's tra and basa fish into US markets starting March next year.

According to the latest report from the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the quality checking process on all catfish shipments from Vietnam started on August 2nd, one month earlier than scheduled.

Random inspections during the first months of 2017 reported that 250 tonnes of catfish imported to the US did not meet food safety standards, which was said to be the reason for the earlier inspections by the FSIS.
