VTV.vn - More heavy rain is forecast in the South of Thailand with new flood warnings for 14 provinces in the region, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on Monday.

Original reports said one life was lost and two remain missing. In Narathiwat, the Su-ngai Kolok River overflowed its banks, flooding riverside communities in three districts, leaving fruit and rubber plantations severely inundated.

Local authorities had to assist people in evacuation and set up temporary shelters in schools. Floods also destroyed many houses, roads and orchards in other provinces. 18 schools and Hat Yai University in Songkhla province were temporarily closed.
