These days, Dalat's roads are covered with violet flamboyant flowers. Its unique colour evokes a sense of romance, serenity, and beautiful memories of the past.
The oldest flamboyant trees in the city of flowers were built in the 1970s. Dalat's elder citizens say that engineer Luong Van Sau, a member of the French Rose Society, was the one who imported the trees into Dalat.
Since then, Dalat's gardeners have created thousands of violet flamboyant trees. The tree has become a symbol of the city.
"Summer is coming but I can still see the violet colour of spring. The women of Dalat are as beautiful as the flowers", Nguyen Thi Thanh Toan - Literature and Art Club in Lam Dong Province - said.
Dalat, the capital of Lam Dong Province in southern Vietnam's Central Highlands, is famous for its many attractions all year round, such as ancient architectural designs and its favourable weather. However, this 125 year old city will be best known by nature lovers as the paradise of flowers, including the violet flamboyant.
