E-money still not recognised as legal currency in Vietnam
VTV.vn - According to an amended decree on non-cash payment submitted to the government, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has not listed Bitcoin or other forms of cryptography-based e-money as a legal payment method in Vietnam.

The SBV also added a regulation that disallows the issuance and supply of e-money, and the use of e-money as a payment method. According to the SBV, if e-money is recognised as a legal payment method, this will violate national sovereignty on issuing currency, and negatively affect the currency policy management.

In addition, e-money could become a tool for crime, such as money laundering, drug trafficking, and tax fraud, as digital money is vulnerable to being attacked, stolen or disrupted during transaction.
