Danang City’s police has decided to arrest and detain Le Chi Cong, the captain of the boat that sunk in the Han River on June 4th which cost the lives of three people. At the time of the accident, the boat was carrying twice the allowed number of tourists.
After the accident on Han River, Danang City authorities have suspended all cruise ship tours in the Hàn River until June 16th. During this time, the authorities will carry out a thorough review of safety standards on all cruise ships, especially those transformed from fishing vessels. In addition, Danang City is also preparing for the establishment of the Han River Cruise Ship Association, which will be in charge of search and rescue during emergencies.
