Celebrating UNESCO resolution on Ho Chi Minh's birthday

A ceremony was held yesterday (November 13th) at the headquarters of UNESCO, or the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, to mark 30 years since the day the organisation issued a resolution on celebrating 100 years of President Hồ Chí Minh's birthday.

After a speech by head of Vietnam Permanent Delegation to UNESCO Trần Thị Hoàng Mai, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova expressed her admiration for President Hồ Chí Minh, a UNESCO-recognised cultural figure. In November 1987, the 18th session of the General Assembly issued a resolution to urge member states to sign up for the 100th anniversary of President Hồ Chí Minh's birthday. The resolution stated that President Hồ Chí Minh dedicated his life to liberating his country, contributing to world peace, democracy and social progress.
