For former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, the story about the fight against the Pol Pot's genocidal regime remains deep in his mind. The Pol Pot killed both Vietnamese and Cambodians. Vietnam defended itself and helped Cambodia escape the genocidal Pol Pot regime.
Poet Anh Ngoc, was one of the earliest Vietnamese reporters in Cambodia after the victory over the Pol Pot's genocial regime in 1979. He recalled Cambodia's Killing Fields of that time. His articles reported on the sacrifices made by Vietnamese soldiers in Cambodia and how the country revived.
From the moment he defected from Pol Pot's forces and came to Vietnam to put his trust in the country, Prime Minister Hun Sen has returned to Vietnam many times. During those returns, he often talked about how Vietnam helped saved him and Cambodia. He emphasised that during the hard times he received help only from Vietnam.
Those words from Prime Minister Hun Sen express all. The sacrifices made by Vietnam will never be forgotten.
