Asian Physics Olympiad concludes in Hanoi

VTV.vn - The 19th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO 2018) officially concluded at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, on May 12.

At the closing ceremony, the Organisation Board awarded 33 gold, 13 silver, and 24 bronze medals,as well as 9 special prizes, for individuals for their excellent performance.

All eight members of the Vietnamese team won medals, with four gold medals going to Tran Duc Huy from Hanoi-Amsterdam High High School, Nguyen Ngoc Long (Lam Son High School, Thanh Hoa province), Nguyen Van Thanh Loi (Quang Trung High School, Binh Phuoc province), and Trinh Duy Hieu (Bac Giang High School, Bac Giang province).

Nguyen Xuan Tan and Nguyen Van Duy, both from Hanoi, won silver medals, whilst bronze medals went to Le Cao Anh from Thanh Hoa and Le Ky Nam from Quang Ninh.

In addition, Tran Duc Huy was awarded as the best contestant of the host country.

The APhO 2018 is taking place from May 6 to 13, featuring the participation of 188 candidates, 50 delegation heads, and 29 observers from 25 countries and territories worldwide. Vietnam is represented by eight contestants.

At the 18th APhO, Vietnam was among the seven nations to secure gold medals, with seven of its eight candidates being crowned medallists, including one gold, three silvers and three certificates of merit (equivalent to a consolation prize).
