ASEAN senior officials seek ways to cope with disaster risks
VTV.vn - About 200 officials from 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) have gathered in central Nghệ An Province today to seek measures to strengthen affiliation in dealing with disaster risks.

The 11th Senior Disaster Management Officials Forum (SDMOF11) focuses on enhancing cooperation and innovation of advanced technologies to respond to landslides in coastal areas, super storms and tsunamis. Vietnam has been affected by several natural disasters such as storms, floods and droughts.

Most recently, Typhoon Doksuri hit three central provinces directly, including Nghệ An Province, causing heavy losses in both human lives and property. The forum is a great opportunity for Vietnam to learn from the experiences of APEC member economies, thus enhancing Vietnam's capabilities in this field.
