Adventure travel: A new trend in Vietnam

Adventure travel is popping up all over Vietnam, and there are many opportunities for young people who are interested in these exciting activities. Adventure touring is a new hot trend, which can provide a unique perspective on a destination.

During this 4-day-holiday, Thao and her friends left the busy city to join in an adventure tour in Bach Moc Luong Tu mountain in the mountainous province of Lao Cai. Thao started joining tours like this about 2 years ago.

Thieu Thi Phuong Thao, Tourist from Hanoi said: By taking part in these adventure tours, I can enjoy nature and feel very relaxed. I live with the locals and take a break from the noisy city.

Adventure tours are currently attracting a lot of young people. Their destinations are often in the mountainous region's waterfalls where the terrain creates challenges for those who like to discover and experience new things. An adventurous vacation gives them the chance to live in nature as well as to test and overcome their limits.

Ly Thu Mai, Tourist added: Everybody has their moments of discovering themselves, especially when we spend time with our friends during a vacation. Some people enjoy staying at home and watching these destinations on screen but they don't have these moments to remember.

This kind of tourism is still new in Vietnam and adventure tours still lack management. That's why local travel agents have to set up their own regulations to ensure safety for tourists.

To ensure their own safety, before joining an adventure tour, visitors should research about the travel agents to see whether they have a license for organizing such tours or not. 

Nguyen Thi Huyen, Managing Director of Viettrantour said: Currently, travel agents organizing adventure tours are still unprofessional. They just copy the model of these tours from other countries. We need proper regulation with clear standards.

Due to uncontrolled management, a number of accidents have occurred. To ensure their own safety, before joining an adventure tour, visitors should research about the travel agents to see whether they have a license for organizing such tours or not.

Visitors should always equip themselves with some skills and learn more about the places that they're going to. With numerous exotic destinations available to visit, this trend of adventure touring is going to continue to take up a large share of the tourism industry.
